Egger Dommer Bär AG

A workplace designed not only for efficiency, but for people.
A contemporary workspace designed for focus, collaboration, and wellbeing.
Located in the heart of Basel, this office interior project for a law firm transforms a 290 m² workplace into a sophisticated yet welcoming environment that balances professional functionality with employee wellbeing. Starting from scratch, the design reimagines the modern legal workplace through a thoughtful combination of natural materials, integrated greenery, acoustic comfort, and flexible working environments.

The concept was developed around the idea of creating a calm, biophilic workspace that supports concentration and everyday comfort while maintaining the refined and professional image expected of a legal practice.
Clean architectural lines are complemented by warm wood finishes, soft textures, and a carefully curated palette of neutral tones, creating a timeless and elegant atmosphere throughout the office.

The layout includes open-plan workspaces, formal meeting rooms, informal collaboration areas, and a dedicated employee lounge. A central design feature is the integration of greenery throughout the workplace, with planters incorporated into storage units and positioned around workstations to create dedicated areas for focused work surrounded by nature. These biophilic elements help foster a more comfortable and calming environment while bringing visual softness to the office space.

Two meeting rooms provide professional settings for client consultations and internal discussions, designed with understated elegance and neutral finishes that reinforce the firm's professional identity.
Employee wellbeing was a key consideration throughout the project. A separate lounge area offers a comfortable retreat for breaks, informal meetings, and spontaneous team interactions, encouraging connection and collaboration beyond the traditional workstation. Additional high-table collaboration zones provide flexibility for team discussions and project work.

Acoustic comfort was addressed through thoughtful spatial planning, acoustic desk dividers, sound-absorbing materials, and acoustic pendant panels that help improve privacy, concentration, and overall workplace comfort.Natural light, light wood finishes, greenery, and a restrained material palette combine to create a workplace that feels both professional and human-centered.
